Smoked shells are a type of appetizer or snack that is made with manicotti shells that are filled with a mixture of ground beef, Italian sausage, cheese, and other ingredients. The shells are then wrapped in bacon and smoked until they are cooked through and the bacon is crispy.

Ingredients

  • 1 package manicotti shells
  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 lb Italian sausage, casings removed
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1/4 cup chopped onion
  • 1/4 cup chopped green bell pepper
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper
  • 1 lb bacon
  • ½ cup BBQ sauce (your favorite BBQ sauce)

      Practice

      step 1

      Preheat your smoker to 225°F.

      step 2

      Bring a pot of salted water to a boil and cook the macaroni for 4-6 mins to partially cook.

      step 3

      In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, Italian sausage, cheddar cheese, breadcrumbs, onion, bell pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper. Mix well.

      step 4

      Stuff the manicotti shells with the meat mixture.

      step 5

      Wrap each shell in a slice of bacon.

      step 6

      Place the shells on a baking sheet or wire rack it's fine (If you prefer to just put them directly on the grates) and smoke for 1 hour(brush with BBQ sauce last 10 mins), while filling reads 170°F on an instant-read thermometer, or until the bacon is crispy and the meat is cooked through.

      step 7

      Serve warm. Enjoy!
