Rib Eye Steaks with Mushrooms and Onions

Grilled Ribeye Steak with Onion and Mushroom is a classic that never goes out of style delicacy. Simply sear the steak in the skillet first and then in the oven to desired doneness. Caramelized onions and mushrooms are the perfect addition to the steak.

Ingredients

Mushrooms and Onions

  • 1 Vidalia onion, sliced thin
  • 8 ounces mushrooms, sliced
  • 3 tbsp butter
  • 1 tsp dried thyme
  • salt
  • fresh cracked black pepper

      For the Steak

      • 1 boneless ribeye steak, 1-1.5 inches thick
      • salt
      • fresh cracked black pepper
      • 2 tbsp butter

        Practice

        step 1

        Pat the steak dry with paper towels and sprinkle both sides with salt and black pepper.

        Preheat the skillet over medium heat and add butter. Once the butter is mostly melted, add the onions and mushrooms, stir frequently until the onions start to soften and brown and the mushrooms begin to soften. Remove onion and mushroom mixture from skillet and set aside.

        Wipe the skillet clean.

        Preheat the oven to 450℉.

        Preheat skillet over medium-high heat and add butter. After the butter has melted, tilt the skillet so that the butter coats the skillet evenly.

        Insert the wireless thermometer into the steak (insert from the side of the steak to the middle), and set the desired steak doneness on the mobile APP. Then place the steaks in the pan and cook for 30-45 seconds per side.

        Place the skillet in the preheated oven. Bake until your phone alerts you that your steak has reached your desired temperature.

        Remove the steak from the oven and let it rest for 10 mins. Drizzle the mushroom and onion mixture over the steak and enjoy.

        Tip:

        Steak Doneness-Rare: 125°F;
        Medium-rare: 135°F;
        Medium-rare: 145°F;
        Well-done: 160°F.
