We no longer have to worry about overcooking beef and making it tough and dry. With the JoyOuce instant read thermometer, enjoy juicy, deeply crusted, perfectly cooked steak on the grill.

Ingredients

  • 1 9 oz steak of choice
  • 1/4 tbsp freshly ground pepper
  • 3 tbsp salt
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 1 medium potato

            Practice

            step 1

Spread salt and pepper evenly on both sides of the steak, and allow to rest on the countertop for about half an hour.

            step 2

Peel and wash the potatoes, and put them in the pot. Add water to a pot with 2 tablespoons of salt and cook potatoes in water until softened inside (you can poke inside with chopsticks. If there is no obstruction when you poke in, it means the potatoes have softened).

            step 3

Put the softened potatoes in a bowl and mash them with a spoon to make them mashed.

            step 4

Heat the butter in the microwave for 20 seconds or until melted.

            step 5

Preheat the grill. When your grill is very hot or if you have a thermometer on your grill it should be around 500°F. Brush both sides of the steak with butter, then place the steak on the grill.

            step 6

After letting the first side of the steak cook on the grill for 1 minute, turn the steak over and grill the second side for 1 minute. Then turn over again and insert an instant read thermometer to read the steak's internal temperature to medium rare, or until 130-135°F.

            step 7

Transfer steak to a plate or parchment paper, let stand for 5 minutes, slice, and serve with mashed potatoes.
